Container Growing Workshop
A hands-on morning for anyone with a balcony, windowsill, or tiny yard. You don't need a garden to grow your own food.
Container growing is the easiest way into food growing for most Londoners. A few well-chosen pots can feed you herbs, salads, tomatoes and chillies all summer — and this morning is everything you need to get started.
What you'll learn
- Container choices — what works, what doesn't, and what you can use that you already own
- Soil & compost — getting the most out of small spaces
- Seeds vs seedlings — which is right for you and your time
- Watering & feeding — simple weekly routines that actually work
What you'll take home
- One pot with a planted seedling — tomato, chilli or herb (your pick)
- A packet of seeds (your choice)
- A printable care guide so you remember what to do next
After the workshop (1pm – 2pm)
Stay on if you can — it's the best bit:
- Community lunch — bring something to share, or just bring yourself
- Garden tour — see Acton Community Garden's no-dig beds
